The release tonight is on track for 8:00 PM Central. A preview of the brushes that will be included is posted here.  There won’t be any 28 mm brushes in this release. All but two (a pair of Sumos) will be 26 mm.

If you’d like to purchase one or more of the new soaps or the aftershave balm, it would be best for us if you could place those items in your cart before the release. In any event, we’ll manually combine shipping for multiple purchases again as long as they’re completed by midnight our time. We’ll start printing labels early tomorrow morning.

A member on one of the shaving boards requested advice on how maximize chances of catching a brush. My reply is re-stated below.

First, preview the brush images in the Flickr gallery to identify and prioritize what you want. Shortly before release-time, go into the Paladin Shaving Brush Shop, select the In-Stock filter, and then narrow down from there to your primary target. Re-fresh frequently.

Those who've had most success go after brushes they want one-at-a-time. That is, they don’t try to place two brushes in their cart before moving a selection into checkout. And they don’t leave checkout to select another brush until they’ve completed their purchase.

All 40 brushes will be released at once. After you select a combination (e.g., 26 mm Butterscotch Chief) by clicking on the representative photo, then be sure to use the drop-down menu to choose a brush that still shows as available. Each brush is different – 002 might be a fan with an S knot, whereas 004 is a semi-bulb with an L knot (see Knot Notes).  Place the brush you select in your cart and move it to checkout as fast as you can. If you don't see a brush you really want, then don't buy one. There will always be another brush.

If you snag a brush and then want to try for another, DO NOT leave checkout before completing payment. If you do, you'll lose the five minutes of protection that starts once you progress to checkout. Buy a second brush in a separate transaction. We'll combine shipping for you.

Some people have had the experience of brushes disappearing from their carts or not moving into checkout. That happens because what you see is not in real-time; it periodically refreshes. So sometimes a brush that appears to be available in the drop-down menu, or even in your cart, is already in process of checkout by someone else before you get it moved into checkout yourself. Whoever progresses to checkout with a brush first has priority, period. But if you fumble around in checkout for too long, or leave checkout, the brush becomes broadly available again.

We hope this will be helpful.

Michael Murrell:

Hi Ken and family,

Can you approximate how frequent these releases will be? I’d really like another brush (got one in the last release) but if releases will be each month or so then there’s no need for me to grab one from this batch. If it won’t be for a while, then I might want to snag one (got my eye on another Jade).

By the way, this update was very informational. I already knew all of the techniques but for others it should eliminate any problems. Just wanted to let you know it was well written.

Thanks,
Michael
